Is teeth whitening safe?

Teeth whitening is a safe, comfortable procedure when performed under the supervision of your dentist or dental hygienist. It can be tempting to turn two store-bought whiteners if you’re looking for a fast solution. But for your comfort and the most dramatic results, trust professional teeth whitening at our Des Moines dental office.

When a patient opts for teeth whitening, we adjust the potency of the gel to make sure it doesn’t cause sensitivity or irritated gums. With store-bought products, you get what you get; the concentration of whitening agents in the gel is low enough to be safe for most people to use.

What whitening products are offered at Young General Dental?

At Young General Dental, we offer three types of whitening products:

  • In-office teeth whitening that produces results in an hour or less
  • Opalescence Go that uses pre-loaded whitening trays you can use straight out of the box
  • Custom take-home whitening that produces results in about two weeks of at-home use

Should I do anything before getting Teeth Whitening in Des Moines?

Before we perform any of these whitening treatments, we recommend that you have your teeth cleaned professionally. Doing so removes all the plaque and tartar from all surfaces of your teeth to help you achieve consistent whitening.
