What problems can porcelain veneers fix?
Porcelain veneers are a cosmetic dental treatment that fixes many of the cosmetic imperfections that mar your smile. At Young General Dental, Dr. Trung Phan enjoys helping transform our patients’ smiles using porcelain veneers at our Des Moines dental office.
What is a Dental Veneer?
A dental veneer is a thin, tooth-shaped shell of porcelain that Dr. Trung bonds to the front surface of one or more teeth. Since they cover your tooth, veneers are perfect for concealing a wide range of smile flaws with porcelain veneers:
- Broken or chipped teeth
- Wide gaps and uneven spaces
- Size or shape discrepancies
- Minor tooth alignment issues
- Severe tooth staining or discoloration
What can I expect from the procedure at Young General Dental?
Once you and Dr. Phan decide that porcelain veneers are right for you, we’ll remove a thin layer of enamel and take impressions of the teeth. We select the shade of porcelain that most closely matches your teeth so that the veneer blends seamlessly with your smile. A custom dental lab in our area uses the impressions and color selection to customize one or more dental veneers. You will leave our office with a set of temporary veneers that you’ll wear until your final veneers are ready.
In about two weeks, we’ll get your customized veneers back from the dental lab, and Dr. Phan will check them for fit then bond them securely to your teeth. With proper care and oral hygiene, your veneers can last as long as ten years.
